Activity 4.2.1 – Applying My Environmental Policy Frameworks.

  Problem Statement   The article “Their Water Taps Ran Dry When Meta Built Next Door” (Tan, 2025) explains how residents in Newton County, Georgia, faced severe water shortages after Meta built a large data center nearby. The company’s massive water use for cooling its servers caused community wells to dry up. While Meta argues that it follows environmental permits and invests in sustainability, local families struggle daily to get clean water. The conflict raises an important question: how can communities balance innovation and technology with environmental justice?   This problem reflects the growing tension between private corporate expansion and public resource protection.
